Liam Fray became the first person to play a gig at the legendary Salford Lads Club last night (August 18) with a lengthy solo show just for Xfm.

The Courteeners frontman - armed only with a small selection of acoustic and electric guitars, plus a tambourine - played a two-hour show for a tiny audience of Xfm competition winners, featuring classics like 'Not Nineteen Forever', 'What Took You So Long' and 'You Overdid It Doll'.
He also unveiled a couple of new songs, including 'It'll Take More Than A Weekend Away To Fix This Mess' and 'Sunflower'.
He was joined briefly onstage by Courteeners guitarist Daniel Conan Moores for a rendition of 'Will It Be This Way Forever?'
The show was stage by Xfm in conjunction with Salford City Council. Salford Lads Club, of course, became famous after being used as a location for the inner gatefold photo in The Smiths' classic album 'The Queen Is Dead'.
