LCD Soundsystem: “We Recorded In A Commune”

James Murphy tells Xfm about the bizarre making of ‘This Is Happening’
LCD Soundsystem mainman James Murphy has been telling Xfm’s John Kennedy about the making of his new album, ‘This Is Happening’. According to Murphy, sessions in an LA mansion took on the feel of a ‘commune’ as everyone was forced to wear white during sessions.
“It’s not a rumour. It’s true. Everyone had to wear white all the time, every day in the studio. Basically because I’m a big fan of bad ideas write large.
“For lack of a less pretentious term, I had a vision of being in a white suit in a mansion in Los Angeles. Like a rock’n’roll, 1973, Hollywood-type recording session.
“It seemed like a good set, or script, to make the record to”.
