Julian Casablancas: ‘It was hard being in The Strokes’

The frontman lets slip that life in the world’s coolest band was anything but cool.
Julian Casablancas has told New York Magazine that tensions and disfunction within The Strokes made life in the band almost unbearable.
“We split the money six ways, but we didn’t split the work,” he said. “It was really, really hard.”
The difficulties lead to the extended gap between recording their third and fourth album. Casablancas, however, went on to report that life in the band had improved considerably since.
“It’s night and day now. Everyone is working as a group, ‘Let’s do it! Go team!’ Which is amazing. Which is what I wanted since day one. But that’s only happening now. Literally now
