Fenech Soler and Dutch Uncles For HMV Next Big Thing Festival

100 new acts will be performing across the event - which is going national...
The event takes place February 4 - 13 and aims to showcase and celebrate the very best new and emerging talent expected to make it big in 2011.
Loads of venues across London are taken over for the festival - and this year it expanding to Birmingham and Edinburgh.
The year the Borderline, Camden Barfly, Heaven, the Jazz Café, the Relentless Garage and Upstairs at the Relentless Garage in London as well as Birmingham's HMV Institute and the HMV Picturehouse in Edinburgh will all be involved.
Each venue will put on three acts per night with tickets just £10.
Clare Maguire, Fenech-Soler, Dutch Uncles and Lauren Pritchard are already confirmed for the event - which will put on 100 hotly tipped act over the week.
And singer Claire Maguire is pleased it's expanding for 2011:
"Growing up in Birmingham I was constantly in record stores, getting lost in music and fuelling my dreams of making my own record one day. HMV was one of the key places where I got my musical and visual inspiration from at that time, so it's fantastic to be given this platform from them now to play to new faces and potential fans. My music means everything to me and I hope this show and the other gigs they are putting on for Next Big Thing will trigger someone in the crowd to start their own musical journey, in same way all the music I first heard there created belief in me."
There will also be label nights featuring Deconstruction, Communion, Transgressive, Moshi Moshi, Memphis Industries, Mute and Blow Up.
Simon Fox, CEO of HMV, said:
"The success of the inaugural hmv Next Big Thing earlier this year, which gave timely support to the likes of Ellie Goulding and Marina and the Diamonds as they launched their careers, has helped to lay the foundations of an even bigger and more exciting event for 2011, which I trust has now established itself as an annual event that marks the beginning of the festival season. We're also delighted to have on board two such engaging brands as Ted Baker and Gaymers cider, which, alongside our media partners at Time Out and Xfm, share our passion for music and new talent."
Tickets are now on sale at www.hmvnextbigthing.com; by phone 0843 221 0100 or at selected HMV stores nationwide.
