City Showcase announces this year’s Xfm-supported New Music nights at The Borderline...

City Showcase, the live music event that takes over the capital, is set to return between May 5 and 9, and once again Xfm is involved with three shows at the Borderline.

Kicking off on May 6 is a special John Kennedy night, featuring headliners May 68, who have been described as “more infectious than Swine Flu and fierce enough to drive La Roux and Little Boots to full-blown commercial suicide”. Also on the bill are NYC/ London trio Lunar Youth, Brisbane four-piece Hungry Kids of Hungary and finally NYC's finest Fever Season.

At the Xfm and Rock Sound magazine night on May 7 will be hardcore punk band from Leeds, The Plight, fresh from tours with the Gallows and Converge. Also playing are These Monsters, Tek-One and Brighton’s Floors And Walls who have been described as “A melting pot of hard rock, MCing, melodic guitars and soulful, yet hard hitting lyrics”. The evening will be hosted by The Rock himself, Ian Camfield. Adding to the fun or carnage the Jagerettes will be on hand at the Borderline for a special Jagermeister promotion.

Camfield says, “City Showcase is a great forum for new bands to show off their talents.  It's a really well organized event, curated by people who love music”.

May 8 will see electro acts including CoCo Electrik, Ski Bunny, Muchuu and Friends Electric.

City Showcase’s 2010 calendar of events includes workshops and showcases at 100 Club, The Apple Store, Regent Street, Carnaby Street, Dean Street Studios, The Regal Room, 229, Amersham Arms, New Cross Inn and many other venues across London as well an out-door stage on May 5 in Gerrard Street.

Wristbands for entry to all City Showcase events are £5 and available from: www.cityshowcase.co.uk
