AC/DC To Play ‘Back In Black’ Album At Download?

Festival boss Andy Copping hints that Angus and co. could celebrate the album’s 30th anniversary in style.

Andy Copping, Download’s promoter, has been speaking to Xfm’s Rock Show about pulling off the festival season’s biggest coup – convincing AC/DC to headline Download.

In an interview with Ian Camfield, Copping suggested there could be something very special on the cards as Download celebrates not only the thirtieth anniversary of the first Monsters Of Rock, but also the 30th anniversary of AC/DC’s landmark album, ‘Back In Black’.

Asked by Camfield whether Copping had broached the idea of playing the album in full, the festival chief said:

“Absolutely, of course. You just never know what might happen on the day. I’m not saying it’s going to happen, but it’s a possibility”.

A Facebook campaign has also been set up to ensure AC/DC play the album in its entirety.

Speaking about the rest of the bill, Copping said that there were plenty more surprises to come.

“I’ve got two more headliners to drop on you yet and that’s really exciting... there’s also a load of other bands good to go which we hope to announce in the next two or three weeks”.

Hear the full interview with Andy Copping on The Rock Show this Saturday (January 30) from 10pm where Ian will also be giving away the first pair of weekend tickets.
