Abbey Road Not For Sale

EMI confirm that the legendary studio will not be put on the market.

Despite numerous reports to the contrary, EMI have stated that they will not be selling Abbey Road studios. The beleaguered record label were rumoured to have put the site on the market in an attempt to ease the debt of owners Terra Firma.

Many of Abbey Road’s famous clients had voiced concerns over the studio’s sale, with Andrew Lloyd Webber and Paul McCartney reportedly interested in saving it. The National Trust had also considered mounting a campaign to save the site last week.

In a statement, EMI have said they’d rejected an offer for the building last year and were now planning some improvements that would “involve a substantial injection of new capital”.
