Xfm Meets Micachu And The Shapes At SXSW

added 24 March 2009 at 15.58

London’s foremost exponents of clatter’n’roll bring their chaos to South By Southwest. We caught up with them after one of their shows.

Picture the scene: it’s a sweltering afternoon in Austin as hundreds pound the pavements outside, desperately seeking the next big thing. Inside a venue, ominously called The Dirty Dog, a small haven of Brit oddness is gripping the gathered throng.

Micachu And The Shapes are belting out their off-kilter tunes and wowing a packed house. Eager to track them down, their manager suggests we pack ourselves into a cramped car for a chat post-show.

Listen to the motorised love-in here:

What’s it like to play South By Southwest?

It’s amazing. It’s important to have fun…

What are you looking to get out of it?

I think it’s better if managers worry about that…

Are you looking to get back to America soon?

We’re doing a few dates after this in New York

Any festivals planned?

We’re definitely doing Sonar, which will be wicked
