The Zutons Begin Work On New Album

Abi Harding reveals that the band are getting into World Music...

Liverpool's The Zutons are set to return soon - in fact they've already started work on their next album. "We've just moved rehearsal rooms, so we're pretty busy," says saxophonist Abi Harding. "We've had a bit of time off. Now we're just concentrating on writing."

The band are currently without a record deal, having parted company with their label Deltasonic at the end of last year. But, as Abi explains, this hasn't stopped the Zutons looking ahead to a new musical direction.

"I've been listening to loads of music," she told the Liverpool Echo, "some mad instrumental stuff from Africa, some great stuff from Fela Kuti. It's nothing like what I play, but I love listening to it. Maybe it inspires a bit of what we do. But that's always been the thing with the band – what we play changes all the time. It feels like we can play anything we want."
