Thousands of you have voted to tell us who should make the 2009 New Music Award shortlist. It’s been bitterly contested, but it’s time the 49-strong long-list becomes a shortlist of ten.
Here, according to you, are the ten best debut albums of 2008.

- Foals 'Antidotes'
- Glasvegas 'Glasvegas'
- Laura Marling 'Alas, I Cannot Swim'
- The Last Shadow Puppets 'The Age Of The Understatement'
- Noah & The Whale 'Peaceful, The World Lays Me Down'
- One Night Only 'Started A Fire'
- The Ting Tings 'We Started Nothing'
- You Me At Six 'Take Off Your Colours'.
As previously announced, the winner will be chosen by a panel of music industry judges and one lucky voter. The judges will be meeting on February 2, with the big announcement being made by Alex Zane in London and Mike McClean in Manchester on the breakfast shows of February 3.
