The Rolling Stones Won’t Play Glastonbury

The rocking pensioners issue a statement ruling out any touring plans for 2010. Radiohead become the next Glasto suspects...

The Rolling Stones have categorically stated they will not be touring this year, despite persistent rumours that a world tour would be announced in April. The last remaining headline slot at this year’s Glastonbury will not, therefore, be claimed by Jagger, Richards, Wood and Watts.

In a statement, the band said:

“Following recent UK media speculation, The Rolling Stones would like to make it clear there are no plans at the moment for the band to tour in 2010.”

The move has prompted many ‘industry experts’ (i.e. us) to speculate that Radiohead will headline this year’s 40th anniversary of Glastonbury instead.

Following the Stones’ denial, we can also exclusively reveal that The Beatles won’t be headlining Reading. Bob Dylan is also unlikely to feature at this year’s Download, although sources close to the legend has said that progress on his thrash metal album is progressing faster than expected.
