The Gaslight Anthem: "We Had To Show The Boss The Chords"

Brian Fallon tells Xfm of his joy at playing with Bruce Springsteen...
It was a big weekend for The Gaslight Anthem... they played Glastobury, followed by a slot at London's Hard Rock Calling in Hyde Park. And both times, they were joined onstage by their influence, mentor and all-round showbiz pal Bruce Springsteen, who jammed along on their hit 'The '59 Sound'.
"He showed up about five minutes before we went onstage," singer Brian Fallon told Xfm's Steve Harris. "It was kind of impromptu, no discussion. I just showed him the chords and that was it."
"It was pretty exicting to seem him get excited. It was funny, he was kind of proud of us. I never thought I'd be showing The Boss the chords to a song. You can't ask for more than that. They were the best two gigs of our lives, really."
However, straight-edge Brian didn't wind down after the Worthy Farm show with the full on Glasto experience. Not even a peary cider passed his lips. "My mom's a gospel singer," he explained. "I'm clean livin'."
