The Astoria Closes Its Doors

Last night’s ‘Last Blast’ sees The Astoria off in style as Mystery Jets re-unite with Henry ‘Dad’ Harrison and Mansun’s Paul Draper joins My Vitriol.
The final gig at The Astoria saw a whole host of indie acts pay tribute to central London’s legendary venue. The show saw VV Brown, The King Blues, Frank Turner, Get Cape, JJ72’s Mark Greaney, My Vitriol, The Mystery Jets and The Automatic line up in an indie extravaganza.
The night also saw a number of guest appearances. Former Mystery Jet Henry Harrison re-joined Blaine Harrison and William Rees for their two-song acoustic set. Paul Draper from late 90s indie legends Manson also joined My Vitriol for an impressive dash through ‘Wide Open Space’. The Automatic and an all-star cover of Bob Marley’s ‘Three Little Birds’ brought the night to a close at around 1am.
The Astoria is being demolished to make way for London’s new Crossrail public transport system.
