Robert Plant Voted ‘Greatest Voice In Rock’

The Led Zep leader has been elected The Greatest Voice In Rock in a poll…

Listeners of DAB radio station Planet Rock voted Plant ahead of Queen’s Freddie Mercury, Free’s Paul Rodgers and Deep Purple’s Ian Gillan.

The Led Zeppelin frontman scored just under 10 per cent of the total vote, after being made a CBE as part of The Queen’s New Years Honours List last week.

Planet Rock notes: “Thirty two of the Top 40 are still performing today, while the youngest entrant in the list is former Soundgarden and Audioslave frontman Chris Cornell who made the list at No. 30.”

Jeez, that is ‘classic’ rock. Here’s the Top 10 –

1. Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin)
2. Freddie Mercury (Queen)
3. Paul Rodgers (Free/Bad Company)
4. Ian Gillan (Deep Purple)
5. Roger Daltrey (The Who)
6. David Coverdale (Whitesnake)
7. Axl Rose (Guns N' Roses)
8. Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden)
9. Mick Jagger (The Rolling Stones)
10. Bon Scott (AC/DC)
