Pearl Jam Guitarist’s ‘Loo Law’ Gets Passed

They’ve fought Ticketmaster and they’ve had a pop at their record label. Now, Mike McCready has stuck it to the man and passed his own law.
Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready has lobbied successfully to allow sufferers of Crohn’s Disease (an inflammatory bowel disease) access to employee restrooms if businesses don’t have a public toilet. McCready, a Crohn’s disease sufferer, had been campaigning tirelessly for the legislation since February.
McCready said at the time:
“Imagine the worst diarrhoea you’ve ever had, and then times it by 10, with a knife in it. You have maybe a half a second to find out where a bathroom is”.
On the subject of one of his own Crohn’s disease experiences, the six stringer said:
“I was in the middle of a solo and it hit, and I can’t go anywhere because I’m playing in front of 20,000 people. So I just let go. I went backstage and cleaned up because the show must go on.”
Charming. The law comes into effect in the US on July 26.
