Morrissey To Retire?

added 14 January 2009 at 10.47

The ex-Smiths frontman has said that latest album, ‘Years Of Refusal’, could be his last. It’s all about dignity for Moz…

Morrissey has been talking to US music mag Filter about the possibilities of retiring. The ex-Smith, who’s busy readying the release of forthcoming album ‘Years Of Refusal’, has said that his pop career may be drawing to a close.

“I don’t want to go on much longer, really”, said Moz. “I think that would suggest a lack of imagination. A certain lack of dignity also. There has to reach a point where you’ve said enough, I think.”

The news comes hot on the heels of rumours surrounding a Smiths re-union of sorts. Relations between Morrissey and Johnny Marr have improved considerably, leading some to believe the pair may work together in the very near future.

Could Morrissey be sacking the solo life to join a group again? Or would this show a ‘lack of dignity’ too? Let us know…

  1. Highly unikley Moz would make a retrograde move, lets face it he never has.
It seems personal to me. Maybe we shouldn't pry and just make the most of Moz while we have him. The new album is as wonderful as ever he was.
I am tempted to wallow in self pity at the potnential loss of new material from Morrissey if he retires, but htat would be undiginified....
