Mani: "We Knew The Stone Roses Album Was Going To Be Massive"

As the seminal 1989 album is reissued, the bassist reflects on its impact...
The Stone Roses' legendary self-titled debut album is being re-released on Monday (August 10) to mark its 20th anniversary. The band's former bassist Mani - now with Primal Scream, of course - has been telling Xfm why he thinks it's had such a lasting appeal... in his usual modest way.
"It has tremendously well crafted songs, great recording and it struck a note with people, strangely enough. It changed a lot of people's lives, least of all our own.
"Even before we made it, we knew it was going to be massive. We knew the power that those songs held. And we knew that with a bit of magic dust in the studo, it was going to be an immense piece of music we used to get ct for being arrogant bit we knew noone else was writing songs ike that at that time
It's a signature album of a time of great change in the world and we were spearheading the new guard."
