Madonna To Play Glastonbury?

Will Madge take the Pyramid Stage in June?
If it's January, it's time to start the Glastonbury speculation in earnest. Just before Christmas The Sun waded in with the sure-fire, honest-this-is-100%-true unconfirmed news that Michael Eavis had booked Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young and the newly-reformed Blur for the 2009 event.
However, The Mirror has thrown another name into the ring - Madonna. The tabloid claims that the megastar is determined to get UK fans back on her side after her messy divorce with Guy Ritchie and a disappointing chart position for her last single, 'Miles Away'. To win us over, Madge is set to play some "selected" dates in the country... and Glastonbury could well be one of them.
Needless to say, Worthy Farm remains typically tight-lipped on the subject - and will do until the rest of the tickets for the festival have sold out after the final onsale on April 5.
Meanwhile, in other Glasto news, it's been announced that the Left Field Stage will not appear at this year's event, having been established back in 2002. A spokesman for the festival commented, "Although the Left Field area will not be happening next year in its current format, Glastonbury always likes to spring surprises, so at this point we can't confirm exactly what new element and areas will make up the 2009 Festival."
