Kings Of Leon Pull Benicassim Slot

The festival is marred by severe bad weather...
This year's Benicassim festival has been marred by extreme weather conditions, which made Kings Of Leon pull out of their slot. The band were due to headliner the Friday night, but cancelled their appearance because of "high winds and the subsequent unsafe conditions". Maximo Park also pulled out, but played on the Saturday, while attempts to do the same for the Kings didn't happen.
"They tried unsuccessfully with the Benicassim organisers to work out a way to make a performance work yesterday, exploring every possible avenue available to them," the band's publicist told the BBC. "But unfortunately it proved logistically impossible. This is a very big disappointment to the band who were looking forward to performing in Spain at Benicassim as one of the big highlights of their summer of live activity."
Also on the Friday, both Lily Allen and Foals dropped out because of illness and Oasis suffered from techincal problems, leading Noel Gallagher to brand the festival "a waste of time". If that wasn't enough, a fire broke out just before Paul Weller's set causing delays. "I was fucking scared," admitted the Modfather.
