Kelly Jones Looks At New Career As A Film scriptwriter

The Stereophonics singer has been pitching ideas in Hollywood...

Stereophonics singer Kelly Jones has been telling Xfm about his parallel career as a movie scriptwriter. With rumours of Sean Penn taking a starring role in a Jones-penned spectacular, our very own Steve Harris posed the question - how much of these stories are true?

"I have written a couple of scripts," Kelly admitted. "An agency is reading a few. And I did bump into Sean Penn, I was behind him on a plane. It's not being made, but who knows what's up our sleeves."

For those who may be surprised that the gravel-voiced frontman would be joining the ranks of the Hollywood elite, Jones reveals that screenwriting has always been on the agenda.

"I've always been doing writing," he said. "I went to film school, but I've been doing the band since I was thirteen. BBC Wales offered me a job scriptwriting, but then Richard Branson offered me a record deal with Virgin, so I took that."
