Jarvis Cocker Receives Honorary Degree

The former Pulp frontman is now a Doctor...
Step forward, Dr Jarvis Cocker! The former Pulp frontman and current solo artist was given an honorary degree by Sheffield Hallam University on Friday (November 13).
Cocker attended the university back when it was plain old Sheffield Polytechnic, and was given the award at Sheffield's City Hall. "It's a great honour to be given this, especially in my home town," he said.
"I'm called a doctor now. Don't worry, I won't open a surgery," continued the star. "But I guess if you are a songwriter maybe I could have some kind of musical surgery."
The BBC reports that the singer told the other graduates that he'd gained much of his knowledge at the good old "University of Life". "The only trouble is the graduation when you've checked out, so it's nice to actually have a graduation whilst I'm still here to enjoy it."
