The MTV European Music Awards came to Berlin last night (November 5) and U2, Green Day and Placebo all walked off with gongs.
U2, who had been the target of some controversry when their live perforance at the Brandenburg Gate that evening had been marred by the arrival of a 2m fence keeping non-ticket holder out, won Best Live Act.
In a lavish show, hosted by Russell Brand's current squeeze Katy Perry, Green Day were named Best Rock Act, Placebo were Best Alternative Act and Linking Park were given the Best World Stage Performance. Other winners included Lady GaGa,Beyonce, Pixie Lott and Tokio Hotel.
