Coldplay To Go Rave?

Will Champion has bought a drum machine... But will he write 'Jazz Odyssey' instead?

Coldplay's new material could be heading into the realms of rave, if tabloid reports are to believed. According to The Sun, the 'Play's Will Champion has invested in a drum machine and has been "pushing it to its limits".

A "source" says that the sessions with legendary knob-twiddler Brian Eno have been producing interesting results. "His most recent offering is turbo-charged, to say the least, but the lads have been having a great time working with it."

However, while this "rave" direction may be just a phase, the resulting tracks could end up like Spinal Tap's ill-fated 'Jazz Odyssey' more than The Prodigy, with one song apparently in "7/4 time".

"It's only the most adventurous of jazz people who compose anything with such an irregular beat," said the mysterious source. "But he’s pressing forward with it."

We hope we like their new direction...
