Damon Albarn admits the reunion has been “extraordinary”…

Blur performed the first of their two Hyde Park shows last night (July 2) and singer Damon Albarn admitted that reforming the band had been a good idea and that the open air shows had been planned right from the start.

“When we first thought about getting together this was the first thing we thought of,” he told the crowd. “The last two weeks have been extraordinary and we're here now."

Their two hour set saw the band play 25 songs from their impressive back catalogue, opening with their debut single, ‘She's So High’. The band also played ‘Girls And Boys’, ‘Song 2’ and ‘Parklife’ which again saw Phil Daniels join them on stage.

Albarn revealed that the song had been inspired by good old Hyde Park. "I had the idea for this song in this park. I used to live near Kensington Church Street and I used to watch pigeons, people and all that stuff."
