Blink 182 Will Reform

As predicted by Xfm last week, Blink 182 used the stage of last night’s Grammy’s to announce they would officially get back together, tour and record.
Blink 182 members Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge and Travis Barker used their appearance at the Grammy’s to announce the band’s reformation. Blink 182 had been on hiatus since February 2005, but relations between the band had thawed considerably since drummer Travis Barker’s near-fatal plane crash.
On stage to present Coldplay with Best Rock Band at last night’s Grammy’s, bassist Mark Hoppus said, “Isn’t it great to see the Jonas Brothers and Stevie Wonder back together again”. Barker then said, “We used to play music together, and we decided to play music together once again”.
Almost immediately after the ceremony, the band released a statement which made the reunion official.
“Hi. We’re blink-182. This past week there’ve been a lot of questions about the current status of the band, and we wanted you to hear it straight from us. To put it simply, we’re back. We mean, really back. Picking up where we left off and then some. In the studio writing and recording a new album. preparing to tour the world yet again. Friendships reformed. 17 years deep in our legacy.”
The band ended the statement with the words: “Summer 2009, thanks and get ready”. Could summer festivals be on the cards?
In more news from the Grammy’s, it turns out that Trent Reznor was none too happy with Radiohead’s ‘In Rainbows’ gong for Best Deluxe Packaging. Nine Inch Nails’ own ‘Ghosts I-IV’ was up for the same award which, according to Reznor via Twitter, deserved the award far more.
“Ghosts DESTROYS In Rainbows deluxe package. No debate”
Ooh, saucer of milk for the pasty-faced man in black?
