The campaigning singer takes part in the G20 demonstrations.

Veteran protest singer Billy Bragg has joined the hundreds demonstrating at the G20 summit in London this week. The musician joined Kate Nash and Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. outside the Bank Of England yesterday (April 1) as part of the 'Financial Fools Day' demonstration designed to draw attention to the recession while the world's leaders were in town.

Bragg attacked banking officials in particular, claiming that direct action was the only way to make a point. "It's better than sitting down shouting at the television at these bankers," he told the Daily Mirror. "We cannot go back to the way things were before to the million dollar bonus culture.

"Bankers' bonuses should be taxed at 90%, like in America. We feel frustration and we hope to send a message today that we are very angry. We need them to know that people are not going to sit back and let this continue happening to us."
