Biffy Clyro On 'Only Revolutions'

Simon Neil, Ben Johnston and James Johnston talk John Kennedy through Biffy Clyro's huge new album, 'Only Revolutions'.
Five albums in and Biffy Clyro return with their best record yet. ‘Only Revolutions’ is a towering goliath of an album that’s set to drag the Ayrshire trio kicking and screaming in to the big time.
Singer Simon Neil, bassist James Johnston and drummer Ben Johnston visited the Xfm studios to talk John Kennedy through the album’s making. It was an hour of golden radio which you can listen back to right here, right now…
In part one, the trio talk about the excitement of releasing their fifth album and strip off to introduce the album’s first track, ‘The Captain’.
In part two, they talk about ‘The Captain’, using strings and the making of ‘That Golden Rule’.
They explain away ‘Bubbles’ featuring Queens Of The Stone Age’s Josh Homme and why they added a bassoon to ‘God And Satan’.
‘Born On A Horse’ is “funky” track five, which Simon, Ben and James give the once over. ‘Mountains’ also gets a good talking.
John gets a lesson in rock as Biffy Clyro talk about ‘Shock Shock’.
It’s track eight next, ‘Many Of Horror’, and the trio explain how the title could almost have been the name of a country and western duo.
The possibly Steve Harris influenced, ‘Booooom, Blast and Ruin’ gets talked about next. ‘Cloud Of Stink’ follows it, with great chat in between.
Finally, Biffy talk through ‘Know Your Quarry’ and the brilliant album closer, ‘Whorses’.
