Beth Ditto: ‘I Was Depressed After Making The New Record’

The Gossip front woman admits a little ‘post-natal depression’ set in after the band had completed work on new album, ‘Music For Men’.

Beth Ditto has told Xfm’s Steve Harris that she suffered from depression after making the band’s fourth album, ‘Music For Men’. After such an intense recording experience, Ditto said that she was hit by a chronic case of the blues.

“After we made the record, I had some post-natal depression”, said the singer. “I really felt like I’d given birth to a baby and was really sad that the baby was out of my body. It was really, really intense. Now I’m looking forward to putting the baby in clothes and giving it a really cool name and taking pictures of the baby”.

With it all in the can, Beth said she’s now excited to start promoting it:

“It was awesome to make and I’m so excited it’s finally out”
