Bat For Lashes: "I'd Buy A Studio With The Prize Money"

Natasha Khan tells Xfm what the Barclaycard Mercury Prize shorlisting means to her...
One person who's already been through the rigmarole and elation of appearing on the Barclaycard Mercury Prize shortlist is Natasha Khan, who as Bat For Lashes was up against the Klaxons back in 2007 with her debut "Fur And Gold". Sadly, she lost out to the nu-ravers, but a second nomination for this year's "Two Suns" has made her very happy.
"With this album I put my whole heart and soul into it... I really gave it everything and hopefully that translates. I was really nervous last time because it was all new, but this time I feel like, am I supposed to be here? I'll be disappointed if I don't get a nomination for my third album!"
With stiff competition, Nat admits that she wouldn't bet on herself, but that the prize money would come in handy if she were to triumph. "My dream is to start producing my own records. I really want to build a studio - that would be my dream, to have a studio in my back garden, so I can be more independent and just write whenever I wanted to."
