X-clusive: The Zutons Reveal New Song Titles

Writing from LA where they're busy recording their new album, The Zutons have dropped us a mail telling all about the sessions.

Scouse psychelicists The Zutons are currently ensconsed at L.A's Sunset Studios with Black Crowes and Primal Scream producer George Drakoulias where they're busy recording their third album which is scheduled for a spring release.

Speaking of the sessions, singer-guitarist Dave McCabe wrote:

"At first I was a bit scared at the thought of going to LA to make this album because we've never been away to record before.

"Since we've got here it's been sound though, we've been buzzing off the Americans, it's taken our heads to a different place and it's brought us closer together. Sometimes you have to go a million miles away or get on a plane for ten hours to get closer together.

"George (the producer) is funny as fuck, he's like a walking jukebox and he's getting a good vibe in the room. It definitely feels different with an American producer than what we're used to and I think that's a good thing for us now."

In between recording the follow-up to 2006's 'Tired Of Hanging Around', The Zutons have amused themselves following local basketball team The L.A. Lakers as well garnering praise from former Beatle Ringo Starr.

The Zutons have also revealed some of the material that they're working on. 'You Can Make These Four Walls Cry' is a duet between McCabe and saxophonist Abi Harding and is described by the band a "tune!" while 'Pull The Plug' "...kicks ass." Also in the pipeline is an eight minute as-yet-untitled "monster".

Be sure to check back as Xfm will keep you posted of how The Zutons' new album progresses.
