X-clusive: Foals At The Brits

added 15 January 2008 at 14.17

Foals spoke exclusively to Xfm at the Brit Awards Launch Party about missing out on the Critics' Choice Award to songstress Adele.

Frontman Yannis Philippakis and keyboardist Edwin Congreave of the hotly tipped Foals admitted that they had not expected to top the list:

"I think there would be something wrong with the world if we'd won it and I dont think we deserved it.  I think Adele and Duffy are far more worthy."

The Oxford quintet - who're embarking on a full UK tour in March - were not over-zealous in their affection for the Brit Awards, saying:  "It's nice but we kinda don't care at the same time.  We wouldn't have been bummed out if we didn't get invited."

However the big 'M' is an awards ceremony that would hold significant meaning for the Foals fivesome:  "To get nominated for the Mercury [Music Prize] would mean something to us in a way that no other awards ceremony would."

But this doesn't mean they will boycott the perks of an all expenses paid star-studded evening of frivolity:

"I think we've got like a table with flowers and girls or maybe that's not necessarily true.  We probably have a wooden table with a bottle of water at the back of the room!"

Already confirmed to play at Reading, Leeds and Bestival, the lads are looking forward to playing European festivals and are very much hoping to do Glastonbury

"We havent been confirmed for Glastonbury yet but we'd really like to do that as we didn't last year."

Their much anticipated debut album, 'Antidotes', is set for release in March with their forthcoming single, 'Cassius', currently securing airplay.
