X-clusive: Editors On Brits, Glasto And Fatherhood

added 15 January 2008 at 11.32

Editors spoke to Xfm about their Brit Award nomination for Best British Group, Glasto rumours and frontman Tom Smith's big news as Dad-to-be.

Following a stellar performance for the Brit Awards 2008 Launch Party at the Roundhouse last night (January 14) Editors - who are up against Arctic Monkeys, Girls Aloud, Kaiser Chiefs and Take That for Best British Group - were excited to even be considered:

"It's amazing! It's not very cool to say but it's nice to be up there with the big boys. Best British Group we're nominated for, so it's a good thing." [Listen]

But Tom Smith - who rated fellow Brit Award nominees Bat For Lashes, Klaxons and Jamie T - weren't pinning their hopes on a win this time:

"Our chances of winning are absolute zero. We're up against Take That for God's sake - I dunno if you know much about Take That but they're pretty good."

With Russell Leetch interjecting, "We're a one legged horse. Three cracking come back singles from Take That for me so good on 'em.  Gary's still got it." [Listen]

Turning next to the recent news that Smith's missus (Edith Bowman) is pregnant with his child told Xfm"I'm in shock but very happy." [Listen]

As for the rest of the year Editors - who're currently touring America - plan to return to the UK and Europe for the summer festival season onwards, and as for a Glastonbury slot?:

"Hopefully. It's not fully confirmed yet but hopefully. I think that gets sorted out very soon" [Listen]
