Thousands Download Coldplay Single

Coldplay's new track 'Violet Hill' is quite literally flying off the virtual shelves, with over 600 thousand people downloading the free single already.

It's just 24 hours since 'Violet Hill' was made available as a free download from the band's website and already over 600 thousand people have got their mitts on it.

Coldplay's record label reckon that over 300 thousand people downloaded it within the first 12 hours of it being posted online.

The single - the first to be taken from their forthcoming album 'Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends' - will be available on the band's website until May 6 when its due for a physical release (and this one'll cost you).

Clearly in a generous mood, Coldplay have also announced their intentions to play three free shows, including a date at London's Brixton Academy on June 16.

You lot have been telling us what you think of the new track in your droves. Check out the comments and join the debate.
