The Specials Reform For Tour Next Year

Coventry’s ska legends are reforming for a special 30th anniversary tour in 2009, marking the first time they'll work together since 1981…

The Specials will play across the nation’s academy-sized venues next April, celebrating their 30th anniversary.

Original members of the band including Terry Hall, Neville Staple, Sir Horace Gentleman, Roddy Radiation, Lynval Golding and John Bradbury will all perform, though founder member Jerry Dammers will not join up with the band.

Hall told this week’s NME “the door remains open to him”, and also expressed his excitement about the shows.

He said: “It’s the right time to do it. We talked about it at 25 but we weren’t together enough. Now we’re all getting on and it feels comfortable again.”

Tickets for the shows go on sale at 9am on Thursday December 11.

The Specials tour dates -

Newcastle Academy (April 22)
Sheffield Academy (23)
Birmingham Academy (25, 26)
Glasgow Academy (28)
Manchester Apollo (May 3)
London Brixton Academy (6, 7)
