The Pigeon Detectives Forced To Cancel Shows

added 12 May 2008 at 12.58

This really is an emergency. The Pigeon Detectives have been forced to cancel two shows in Ireland from their upcoming tour this week after Matt Bowman injured himself this weekend. The viability of the rest of the tour is unclear.

Bowman badly injured his leg during the fourth song at a gig in Maidstone yesterday (May 11) but continued with his characteristic scissor kicks and drum riser leaps until he collapsed in agony.

The hapless singer managed to finish the set before being taken to hospital where doctors initially wanted to operate immediately. However, after further advice Bowman was transferred to Leeds for medical attention where he is currently being treated.

The Pigeon Detectives are now anxiously waiting to hear whether any more dates on their UK tour will have to be delayed. Dr Dave Hancock, Head of Physio at Chelsea FC, said that if Bowman was a footballer he would be out for 6 weeks.

It's anticipated that the rest of the UK tour, scheduled to kick off in Glasgow this Friday (May 16), will go ahead as planned. The band are looking to reschedule the Irish dates (May 13 - Dublin, Ambassador Theatre / May 14 - Belfast, Mandela Hall) and profusely apologise to their fans who had bought tickets.
