The Kooks Vs The Pigeon Detectives

Hold on to your tea folks: Kooks frontman Luke Pritchard blames The Pigeon Detectives for diluting the indie scene. 'It's not as good it used to be' decries the Brighton warbler.

We remember when it were all fields around these parts. Green pastures, golden corn and the sun beating down on the brilliant indie bands frolicking merrily without a care in the world. It’s all changed now…

Or it has if you’re Luke Pritchard, the ex Mr. Katie Melua and heroically haired troubadour of The Kooks. Pritchard, it seems, is unhappy with the current indie scene and longs for those halcyon days of British guitar music all that time ago in… 2005.

Talking to quality newspaper The Daily Star, Pritchard also singled out the culprits responsible for the crumbling of indie’s empire.

"When we first came out it was a cool time, with the Kaisers, Arctics and Bloc Party on the same circuit. I don't think many people would place us with those acts, but at the time I really felt part of that whole movement. It's funny what's followed. Bands like The Pigeon Detectives took what was there and slightly diluted it".

We’ve heard nothing back from The Pigeon Detectives, but we’re all gearing up for round two of the indie wars. Bands eh? Why can’t they, like, get along and end famine in Africa?

So what do you think? Is this indie finally eating itself? Or the most hilarious case of ye olde pot/kettle equation? Let us know…
