The Enemy's Arctic Monkeys Feud Intensifies

added 07 March 2008 at 12.47

The Enemy's pint-sized frontman Tom Clarke has once again attacked Arctic Monkeys in what's set to be just the lastest salvo in a long-running fued between the two bands.

This time, Clarke has railed against the organisers of this year's Brit Awards accusing them of lacking backbone for awarding the Sheffield quartet what he sees as too many awards.

Speaking to The Mirror the in no way bitter and twisted Enemy frontman said: “It's disappointing the Arctic Monkeys were given loads of awards.

"They only won so much because the bosses knew it wouldn't offend anyone.”

Clarke continued: "I suppose you can't begrudge them one award. They have had one good album and one average one but they haven't done anything special this year."

Arctic Monkeys scooped the gongs for Best British Band and Best British Album at last month's awards ceremony while The Enemy didn't.

C'mon Tom - ain't being the winner of the inaugural Xfm New Music Awards enough?

  1. Tom Clarke really needs to wake up and realise how envious and deluded he is. He should appreciate that Arctic Monkeys are 1,000,000 times better than his crap Oasis and The Jam tribute act. Alex Turner is a great songwriter, better than Tom Clarke by miles. Face it, Tom, Arctic Monkeys are better musicians than you and your little mates will ever be. And stop straightening your hair - it looks shit.

Roll on Arctic Monkeys' 3rd album!!

  3. I sort of agree...

Arctics first album was great, 2nd isnt so good and there have been better albums in the year so I think it is a bit of a cop out.

Tom's just saying what quite a few people havent got the balls to say to be honest. Hes obviously a pretty outspoken bloke but there's no law against that.

  5. He's still at it, so it seems. Both bands can write songs, it's true, That said, isn't it always the less well-known one which instigates this sort of feud? Does Tom Clarke think that people will read his words and give their AM albums away as a consequence? Ultimately, success in music - as with any art form - comes from the people who want to listen being tuned in to that sort of sound and being excited by it. If AM are more well-known than TE then the impetus is on the latter to come up with something every bit as exciting. Best of luck to him.

  8. The Enemy - sour grapes.
    Arctic Monkeys - overrated.

You can't spell "feud" by the way.
