The Black Keys Announce Release of Fifth Album

added 28 January 2008 at 16.52

The Black Keys have collaborated with producer Danger Mouse - of Gnarls Barkley and Gorillaz fame - on their fifth album, 'Attack and Release', due for release on March 31.

The collaboration came about when Danger Mouse - otherwise known as Brian Burton - approached The Black Keys to write songs for an album he was developing with the late R&B legend Ike Turner.

Whilst composing tracks in Ohio, the foundations for the album were laid and finished with other contributers including  guitarist and composer Marc Ribot and multi-instrumentalist Ralph Carney (both long-time associates of Tom Waits).

Vocalist Daniel Auerbach explained what it was like working with Danger Mouse:

"He has a real ear for melody and arrangement and that was a big part of this record as was the studio a really special place."

The Black Keys will embark on a full tour of America in March.  UK dates are yet to be announced.
