Student Festival Kicks Off (Without The Dragons' Help)

Student festival Beach Break Live kicked off yesterday (June 9) with over 5,000 revellers heading down en masse to the Cornish shores, but what made the organisers turned down investment from the Dragons' Den?

It's not that hard to see why this festival created a bidding war between Peter Jones and his fellow Dragons when its organisers heading to the dreaded Den. It targets the lucrative student market, has a back drop of the stunning Cornish coasts and this year boasts a stellar line-up, with established acts such as The Cribs, The Enemy and The Wombats playing alongside newbie buzz bands like Team Waterpolo, Noah And The Whale and Does It Offend You Yeah?.

Throw into that some Cornish boutique flavours (with mud wrestling, hot tubs, barn dances and even 'Pass the Pig' games (no, we're not sure either) and some drum n' bass treats (Pendulum, Mr Scruff and Scratch Perverts for starters) and a 5am license and you've got a winning formula.

So how did the Dragons end up losing out on this investment? Turns out the organisers decided they'd had a better offer and partnered up with Outgoing, who put on festivals such as Snowbombing amongst other events.
