Snow Patrol: We'll Follow Led Zeppelin

added 30 October 2008 at 12.25

Frontman Gary Lightbody struggled to contain his excitement to Xfm at the prospect of following Led Zep, as the band announce a supermassive arena date for 2009 at London's O2 Arena...

Lightbody, who dropped by the Xfm studios last night for an exclusive chat with Steve Harris, failed to contain his excitement at the prospect of following in Led Zeppelin's footsteps by headlining London's O2 Arena.

He said: "We've a tour next year, going on sale on Friday. We're playing places that we've played before but also a few cities we haven't played many times. We wanted to explore a bit. Any venue that Led Zeppelin play in is an honour."

The Snow Patrol frontman also let slip who his band want to support them for the big dates, pleading to a certain St. Albans three-piece.

"With the UK and Ireland tour, that's a time when you can tell whether the new songs mean something to the fans or not... It'll be brilliant. Friendly Fires, please come and play with us."

A number of tickets go on sale for the Taking Back The Cities tour exclusively from SnowPatrol.com from 9am tomorrow (October 31) until midnight on November 1, and then on general sale on Friday November 7 at 9am, where they can be bought from the Xfm X Change on 0871 222 1049 or by clicking here.
