Smashing Pumpkins To Release New Single Via Guitar Hero

Chicago’s finest will release new single ‘G.L.O.W.’ through computer game ‘Guitar Hero: World Tour’.

Forget giving them away for free, leave off the USB devices, and disregard the whole pay-what-you-want scheme; the latest fad for releasing tunes is via computer game ‘Guitar Hero’.

At least that’s the case for Smashing Pumpkins, who are to release new single ‘G.L.O.W.’ as part of a downloadable song pack - which also includes ‘1979’ and ‘The Everlasting Gaze’ - for the forthcoming ‘Guitar Hero: World Tour’, Billboard reports.

Players will be able to play the game as band leader Billy Corgan, who has spoken of his excitement about the release: “I feel totally ecstatic about a phenomenon like Guitar Hero because it gets people listening to music… I’m just totally overjoyed that they asked me to be a part of the game.”

The pack will be available after the game is released on November 14 for the Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii, though Pumpkins’ hit ‘Today’ will be available straight away.
