Sebadoh Injure Bloc Party In Sonic Fracas

‘Bleeding eyeballs’ the result as Bloc Party come off second best to Lou Barlow’s indie legends. Bassist Gordon Moakes' age also called in to question following this unlikely square off...

Fresh from their Sex Pistols fall-out, Bloc Party have now tangled with lo fi pioneers Sebadoh and lost. In the third part of their Xfm Residency, our celebrity DJs dropped Lou Barlow and co’s ‘Crystal Gypsy’ to devastating results. The track, penned by Sebadoh bassist Jason Loewenstein for their ‘Harmacy' album, had the following reaction from the art rocking pair:

“My ears hurt. Jesus!”, said Kele, a touch wuss-like.
“At least your eyes aren’t bleeding like mine”, screamed drummer Matt, possibly not in as much pain as he was making out.

The typically eclectic show also included songs by Donna Summer, Nirvana, The Everly Brothers and Dizzee Rascal. After playing Focus’s classic/barmy prog rock epic ‘Hocus Pocus’, another bombshell was dropped by Kele who said “that one’s almost as old as our bass player Gordon”. Mr Moakes was unavailable to comment, largely because we couldn’t find his phone number.

Don’t even get us started on the irony of their inability to pronounce ‘pronunciation’. That was belting, too.

You can listen to Bloc Party’s third stint as DJs right here. You won’t be disappointed.
