Kaiser Chiefs Frontman Slates "Boring" Indie Bands

Ricky Wilson claims that some acts are "going through the motions", but that his own band's new album witll be "radical".
The Kaiser Chiefs are the latest act to slate the current flood of "indie" artists, claiming that the scene is "boring" and a marketing ploy used by labels. Following the news that their new album is to be titled 'Off With Their Heads', Ricky Wilson told the BBC, "Indie bands are big, so a lot of record companies are pushing indie bands and going 'We've got one and they dress in vests'. That indie by numbers is boring."
We're not going to point fingers or name names," he added, "But we've noticed that [other bands] didn't seem to be enjoying themselves on their new records, they seemed to be going through the motions".
The new Kaisers album, meanwhile, was going to be "weird and fresh and radical". The record, released on October 13 and called 'Off With Their Heads', has been produced by Mark Ronson. "Mark's main thing is songs," says Wilson of the collaboration. "He's old-fashioned Phil Spector-style. Sometimes he'd make us all wear sunglasses in the studio! I know it sounds stupid, but we did 'Good Days Bad Days' and wearing sunglasses gave it a really different vibe".
What do you think? Will the new Kaiser Chiefs album be "radical" or should they think twice before slagging off other bands? Let us know what you think - leave a comment here.
