Reading Weather ‘None Too Shabby’

Bright spells and occasional showers promised for the weekend as festival goers begin to flock to the field(s) of dreams.
The Met Office have promised occasional showers over the weekend as Reading Festival gears up for the biggest weekend of the year. Sophie Turner, Xfm’s weather reporter, is already on site and says that despite poor conditions earlier in the week the festival site looks in surprisingly good shape.
“The weather hasn’t been great these last few days. Backstage was awash with mud and the main arena wasn’t looking great either. It’s been sunny today and it’s already begun to dry out. Although there’s a little bit of mud about, it’s quite firm underfoot and looking quite good”.
The Met Office are also confident that things aren’t going to get too much worse either. This is what they’re reporting for the weekend ahead:
Friday: “A bright and dry start to the day however showers are expected to bubble up by afternoon; though many places, especially in the west, will stay dry. Maximum temperature 21 °C”.
Saturday And Sunday: “Dry on Saturday with some good sunny spells, but it will turn wet overnight. The rain will clear on Sunday then it should stay mostly dry & bright through until Monday”.
The poor weather hasn’t dissuaded festival goers from turning up early. Already arriving in their droves, mood in the growing campsite is buoyant.
“The streets of Reading are filled with people with backpacks and wellies”, said Sophie. “The mood in camp is also really good. It’s pretty busy already and there’s random bursts of cheers erupting as everyone gets ready for the weekend ahead”.
