Radiohead Score Second U.S. Number One

Radiohead have landed their second ever Number One album in America. The band are now at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 with 'In Rainbows', their first chart-topper since 2000's 'Kid A'.
The Oxford band managed the feat despite offering their new album in a 'pay what you want' online deal in October, which saw thousands of fans buy the record for next to nothing.
This probably accounts for Radiohead selling 188,000 copies less than 2003's Number Three hit 'Hail To The Thief' which shifted 300,000 on the first week of release. The fact that the American music market was down 37.5% from the previous week's Christmas boom undoubtedly helped the band secure pole position.
Still, well done and all that.
