Radiohead Nominated For Ivor Novello
Radiohead's groundbreaking 'In Rainbows' is in the running for a prestigious Ivor Novello award for Best Album. Other nominees for a gong in other categories include Kate Nash, Kaiser Chiefs and Klaxons.
Now in their sixth decade, the Ivor Novello Awards recognise the best British songwriting and composing. Previous winers have included Arctic Monkeys who last year scooped the prize for Best Album with 'Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not'
Radiohead's 'In Rainbows' finds itself in competition with 'Man On The Roof' by Stephen Fretwell and Cherry Ghost's 'Thirst For Romance'.
Xfm Manchester is particularaly proud of Cherry Ghost aka Simon Aldred's dual nomination after DJ and Inspiral Carpetter Clint Boon gave him his very first radio play after dicovering his demo and helped faciliate his record deal. Gwaan!
Kate Nash's 'Foundations' is in the running for Best Contemporary Song as are Klaxons with 'Golden Skans' while Kaiser Chiefs are up for the PRS Most Performed Song award with 'Ruby'.
