Radiohead Make "Cameraless" Video

Thom Yorke's head appears in a strange new video for 'House Of Cards', made entirely by lasers (or something). Take a look at it here.
Those Radiohead boys have done it again. Having decided not to make any "conventional" videos for 'In Rainbows', the band have produced a clip for the track 'House Of Cards' without using any cameras whatsoever. Confused? You will be...
The video was created using processes that boffins call Geometric Informatics and Velodyne Lidar, but The Man In The Street is calling "technical jiggery-pokery". Basically, the system uses lights and lasers to plot a 3D image of an object (in this case, Thom Yorke's mush), or a room (in this case a party).
The video, which is available on Google, via http://code.google.com/radiohead, has gone down well with the band themselves. "I always like the idea of using technology in a way that it wasn't meant to be used," laughs Thom. "I liked the idea of making a video of human beings and real life and time without using any cameras, just lasers, so there are just mathematical points - and how strangely emotional it ended up being."
Take a look and judge for yourself. What do you think? Art or geekery? Tell us by leaving a comment here.
