Peter Doherty Jailed For 14 Weeks

Babyshambles' Pete Doherty has been jailed for a total of 14 weeks for failing to show up on time to court and repeated drug use.
The singer - who was already serving a suspended sentence - showed up to a court hearing at West London Magistrates Court this afternoon (April 8).
Judge Davinder Lachar handed out the 14 week sentence, which would scupper any chances of Doherty performing his solo show at the Royal Albert Hall on April 26, a scheduled slot at the Sony Walkman party this Thursday (April 10) and Glastonbury Festival (June 27 - 29).
Doherty's label Parlophone issued the following statement:
"Today, Peter Doherty was sentenced to a total of 14 weeks in jail for being in breach of his probation order. Unfortunately Peter has had to postpone his show at the Royal Albert Hall on April 26th.
"The show is due to be rescheduled and all tickets will be valid for the new date once it has been announced. Peter was very much looking forward to the show and would like to offer his sincerest apologies to all his fans and to all those concerned."
The singer plans to appeal.
