Paul McCartney To Pay Out £25m To Ex

added 14 March 2008 at 17.06

According to sources, Heather Mills is set to receive £25 million in her divorce settlement with Sir Paul McCartney - which works out to be around £4m for every year of marriage. Ker-ching!

At present, details of the settlement are contained in a preliminary High Court settlement sent to the McCartneys and their legal teams.

The verdict is expected to be handed down on Monday. The case has been one of the most expensive in British legal history with lawyers' and other fees expected to be around £10 million

A source (who else?) close to the couple revealed to the Evening Standard: "The judgement has been made. The parties involved received their copies this week.

"On the analysis of the case law Mills was always going to receive around £25 million. I think it's fair to say that the judge has not erred from that.

"The judgement is very thorough. He has gone into every detail to make sure neither party has grounds for appeal. It's fair to say the judgement is very long."

Following earlier estimates of a £200 million payout, the likelihood of McCartney's thumbs remaining aloft in light of the verdict is very high.
