Orange Juice To Reform

Edwyn Collins' seminal Scottish indie act will play awards ceremony...
Orange Juice, the hugely-influential early 80s indie band fronted by Edwyn Collins, will reform for a special one-off performance. Music Week claim that the Scottish act will get back together for the 2008 Tartan Clef Awards, which are to be held at the Old Fruitmarket in Glasgow on November 22.
The band were formed in Glasgow in the late 1970s and were signed to the legendary Postcard label, releasing such classic singles as 'Rip It Up', 'Falling And Laughing', 'Simply Thrilled Honey' and the album 'You Can't Hide Your Love Forever'. Following the departure of original members James Kirk and Steven Daly in 1982, Orange Juice finally split in 1985 with remaining members Collins and drummer Zeke Manyika establishing solo careers.
In 2005 Collins suffered from a massive cerebral haemorrhage and underwent a lengthy recovery process. Last year, he returned to the live stage for the first time since his operation at the BBC's Electric Proms and performed at this year's Glastonbury festival.
The Tartan Clef Awards is a charity event, designed to raise funds for Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy. "I am very excited about this year's [event], which looks set to be the best yet with a stellar line-up and a great venue," said chairman Donald MacLeod.
